01 Challenge
Potential of Metaverse
Matterport aims to enter the metaverse early to capitalize on its projected growth to hundreds of billions of dollars within the next decade.
However, the company lacks a clear channel for users to understand and engage with the metaverse.
As the UIUX designer, my task is to
- Create an intuitive and engaging interface that clarifies the metaverse concept and leverages Matterport’s technology to create immersive experiences.
- Enhance user engagement and support virtual real estate and e-commerce applications.

Identifying the Painpoints
From our primary research, we've discovered a large potential market in the AR and VR industry. Leveraging this technology, we can build a platform that guides users to Matterport’s immersive environments.
Additionally, there's an increasing demand for documenting life experiences through immersive media, such as vlogs. Social media trends also show a significant interest in sharing and viewing others' lives.
With these findings, we aim to identify the current pain points in existing life documentation technologies and explore how the metaverse can address these issues. By enhancing user engagement and creating intuitive, immersive experiences, we can position Matterport as a key player in this rapidly growing market.

03 Approach
User-Centric Design
From our user studies, we gained insightful opinions on users' current desires, which include their wish to capture every moment of their lives so they can revisit them later. Users also have a strong desire to share meaningful moments with others; however, they find it challenging to capture every interesting moment effectively.
Matterport’s advanced 3D technology can potentially address these needs by enabling users to create highly detailed and immersive 3D environments of their experiences.

Documenting Every Meaningful Moment
We presented our idea of MICO. A XR glasses that can capture every moment of their live and also view other's views. Users can livestream what they see at all times and also revisit their meaningful moments stored on their cloud.
Users can effortlessly document and relive their most precious moments in a way that feels vivid and realistic. Additionally, this technology allows for easy sharing of these immersive experiences on social media, providing a more engaging and interactive way to connect with others. By offering a platform that seamlessly integrates 3D capture, storage, and sharing capabilities, Matterport can significantly enhance how users document and share their lives, meeting the growing demand for more immersive and meaningful media.
